You're Not Invited on Dec, 30th, 2004 by brad
We're doing a special birthday show for Ben Knifle and you're not allowed to come! So there! We might not even let Ben go for that matter, that's how exclusive it is. Feel left out, unloved and unimportant.

Craig's book is now available in Europe! If you're European (or just dress like you are) contact Steffan (from the sweet-ass band Destroyer).

Winter Solstice Treat on Dec, 24th, 2004 by brad
I guess lazy old Seth decided to get off his butt and upload some stuff. There is a host of new pictures up from our Unity Skate and Reno shows. Also, speaking of pictures, I changed up the navigation on the shows page. With all those pictures it was taking a long time to load - so now there is a "jump menu" where you choose a date, then get the thumbnails to click on. Most importantly, though, the is a new video. The fine people of Reno were treated to a rendition of Mr. Big's "To Be With You" by Jackson, thus launching his solo career as a cover-artist. We found out something that night, Jackson can SING!

End of the year things to come on Dec, 21st, 2004 by brad
If Seth would stop being lazy we'd have a whole new slue of interesting pictures and videos on this website, but Seth, holder of said items, is lazy and unwilling to take the time upload them to the website. If you know Seth you should ask him about his laziness. We do have some new photos up, thanks to Stephanie, someone who understands the importance of photograph uploading.

Charity show in Livermore on Dec, 15th, 2004 by brad
We just got asked to play a show in Livermore for a children's gift charity, and I think we're a go on the show. We're actually waiting for Jackson to return the phone call, then we'll know for sure. I'm going to say we're playing, hence me mentioning it. You should come out to this show, yes, YOU.

Thanks! on Dec, 13st, 2004 by brad
Thanks Reno, we had a great time as always. Best of luck to Sound and Fury Records, Reno's raddest record store! :)

Dec Song of the Month on Dec, 1st, 2004 by brad
The Song of the Month for December is up.

We're playing in Livermore on Saturday, come on out.

Thanks and Farewell Nate on Nov, 29th, 2004 by brad
Thanks to everyone who came out to see us last night, and thanks to the bands and Jason for having us. Farewell to Nate, who is moving away from the rest of the Manville Town Drunks. Best of luck!

IPSND on Nov, 15th, 2004 by brad
A very late in the evening, Happy International Porn Star Nuts Day to all of you. We were all so busy celebrating that we hadn't the time to update the site.

Apologies Accepted (thanks Danny B.)

Sorry on Nov, 6th, 2004 by brad
Sorry everybody

SOTM & Shows on Nov, 1st, 2004 by brad
First we must apologize to Santa Cruz for not making it down to the show last night. Thanks to San Lorenzo's lack of working air-hoses and bad traffic we were 2-hours behind schedule on leaving. Sorry, Unit Breed for not making it down for the show.

Speaking of shows, the next one is this Saturday at Gilman St. in Berkeley.

The Song of the Month is up as well.

Reno & Review on Oct. 18th, 2004 by brad
Big thanks to everyone in Reno and Chico that we met this last weekend. We had a great time in both cities.

For those of you in Reno who didn't get a copy and want one, and to everyone else out there that is completely unaware you can now download the "Love Songs Loves Us Some Reno" single through the website.

Not sure how egotistical this looks, but I like to have a record of these:
Jersey Beat Says:
Every now and then a CD passes across the Reverend's desk that just begs your humble critic to sit up and take notice. Most disappoint immediately when slapped on the old stereophonic device. Not so with All Branches, No Trunk by California punks Love Songs. At least I think that they're punks - actually, it's kinda hard to tell by the tunes herein. From the hideously dismembered figurine on the cover to the band's musical mix of three-chord punk, hardcore and Smashing Pumpkins-styled art-punk, it's difficult to pin Love Songs down to a single description. For instance, take "ISPN Day" which starts off like a metal-edged HC punter only to change into a harmony-drenched grungefest before devolving into a mutant pop radio playing scraps of the B-52s and Chumbawumba. "Sweet-ish" offers wicked guitar riffs married to spoken-word vocals while the title cut starts off like an arena-rocker with big riffs before diving off the stage into a feedback-driven, chaotic primal therapy session backed by martial beats. When everything is considered, All Branches, No Trunk rocks like a motherfucker, mixing equal parts Tom Waits and Fugazi, Eugene Chadbourne and the Offspring. As a band, Love Songs is electric and eclectic, invigorating and irreverent...all admirable traits for a rock and roll band. Check 'em out for yourself.

Reno & Chico on Oct. 11th, 2004 by brad
We're excited to say that this Friday we're heading back to RENO to play at the Proxy House. Then the very next night we're playing for the first time in Chico, which we're looking forward to. Yippee!

Review of All Branches, No Trunk from Man with Pet.

Movies, Reviews and SOTM on Sept. 29th, 2004 by brad
Two of our songs from the All Branches CD are featured in an independent movie some fellow made. More info on that (such as the title and screenings) once we get it.

Ernst sent us this favorable review of the All Branches CD from the latest issue of Razorcake magazine:
Don't let the name fool you, unless your idea of a love song is an ode to shaving your balls. Various Bay Area punk rock miscreants, including that guy from Your Mother, join forces here for a goofy, fun album that sounds like punk rock without falling into a predetermined musical niche. It's a lot like Toys that Kill, but less skewed and with lots of little guitar parts that make me think that somebody in the band is REALLY into Iron Maiden. I love the artwork too. Good stuff.

Lastly, I'm posting the Song of the Month for October a day and a half early because I feel like it.

Shows on Sept. 16th, 2004 by brad
More shows coming up. So check out the shows page.

Sept SOTM & Shows on Aug 24th, 2004 by brad
The Sept Song of the Month is up.

We might be playing with Siberia in Oakland on Sept. 16th. Just gotta find out the details from Alan. Otherwise, the next show is in SF on Sept 18th.

Show reviews on Aug 25th, 2004 by brad
Show reviews are up for all the latest shows.

Aug SOTM & Shows on Aug 24th, 2004 by brad
Woah! Get this, Craig actually delivered an August Song of the Month. It's available now!

Note: the next Love Songs show will be an interesting one because I won't be at it! The rest of the band will being playing an acoustic set without a drummer. However, the next day we are playing in San Francisco (with me on drums assuming Love Songs doesn't fire me and turn into a folk band) so take your pick or come on out to both!

Love Songs Pictures & Shows on Aug 22nd, 2004 by brad
Thanks to Murray Bowles we've got some pictures from the Carvan up on the site.

We don't think the show today is happening. The venue fell through and it is rather unlikely we'll be able to figure something since no one can get a hold of one another, although we are officially "on call" in the off chance it all does come together.

You might be interested to know that the next Love Songs show is Tuesday, August 24th, 2004 @ iMusicast (5429 Telegraph Ave Oakland, CA 94609 - MAP) With Volante, Pigeon and Love Songs. 7:30pm. All Ages. $8.00

All Branches and Lots of Shows on Aug 16th, 2004 by brad
Lots of Love Songs shows coming up in the next two weeks. Please note that Love Songs is not playing the show Sunday at Thee Parkside and instead playing some other show in San Francisco. Once I know the location, I'll be updating the site. Just don't go to Thee Parkside on Sunday expecting to see us.

Love Songs All Branches No Trunk CD CoverIf you don't want to miss out on any Love Songs shows, you should sign up for the Love Songs Newsletter.

For all of you who own the All Branches, No Trunk CD, have you checked out all the extra images and lyrics that we weren't able to fit onto the CD? You haven't?!? Well you're in luck, it is all up here on the website. See everything you missed here. Now you can sing along with every word on the CD.

Reno River on Aug 11th, 2004 by brad
Check out the hot doods of Love Songs hanging out like shirtless bros at a lake in Reno. Woohoo! Showing off the flab and pale skin (and nipple rings in the case of Jackson.)

Update: Added even more pictures from Reno!

German Review on Aug 8th, 2004 by brad
I don't know who wrote this, but Craig sent it to me:
LOVE SONGS
All branches, No Trunk (2004/625) CD
9,50 EUR

Dude, Reno! on Aug 6th, 2004 by brad
Without a doubt Reno rules! Thanks so much to everyone involved we had a most fabulous time. Any picture takers please email me whatever photos you have of us from the show. Thanks in particular (again) to Joe Reno for setting up that whole thing, and thanks to all the rocking bands we played with (all 13 of them.)

12, Reno, SOTM on July 28th, 2004 by brad
Thanks to Pigeon for having us out for the show last night, we had a good time. 12 Galaxies was a nice place to pay. We were loud apparently. I think we always are. My fault.

Next show is in Reno. Woohoo, going back to Reno!

There will NOT be a Song of The Month for August. Craig moved into a new space and hasn't had the time to record any new SOTM material. He also doesn't have High Speed Internet Access (*insert International Sign for H.S.I.A. here*) to upload an mp3 even if he did have a song to upload. Sorry boys and gals, no song for you!

Fun in the Sun on July 20th, 2004 by brad
Thanks Mike Park for having Love Songs play the A's Game show, we had a great time.

You know you want to get emails from us regarding shows, right? So sign up for the Love Songs newsletter here and never miss out on when and where the next Love Songs show is.

A's Game Parking Lot Show on July 12th, 2004 by brad
"ON MONDAY JULY 19th! - Here are the details for next Monday. Starting at 5 PM, we'll be rocking the 2nd annual Asian Man day at the A's game. I'll be in the far corner of the parking lot next to the freeway towards Oakland. For example: If you were standing in the parking lot facing the Freeway, you would start walking towards the right corner of the parking lot and BAM!! that's where we'll be set up. My red van will be parked there along with the PLEA FOR PEACE tent. There will be free food and drinks for everyone(limited amount of vegan stuff, so just bring something for the grill and we'll toss it on for ya) and tons of free CD's, T-Shirts, stickers, buttons, etc.. We'll have bands playing including:Love Songs, Short Round, and a few more suprises for ya. Tickets are $5 for the game, but you don't have to go the game if you don't want to. The parking lot fun is free. I'll buy a bunch of tickets for the game and you can just pay me back at the game. By the way, the A's are playing the Toronto Blue Jays. If there ends up being more people than we expected, no worries. We'll just get more tickets. Should be no problem. I think I've covered everything. Please email to let me know if you are going so I know how much food to buy and how many tickets to buy."
Peace - mike park

High Speed Internet & Very Distro on July 11th, 2004 by brad
Craig moved into a new place in Alameda and thus lost his High Speed Internet Access. The Information Superhighway is now down at the library for him, so expect delayed responses from him via email. That includes if you order the CD through Paypal.

The good news is that you can now also order the CD through VeryDistro.com, which happens to be my personal favorite place to order CDs/Records online. I just was checking their website and typed in Love Songs, just to see, and there we are on the site. I got excited, so I'm putting up this notice about it. Check it out.

Pictures and Show Change on July 7th, 2004 by brad
There are three pictures from the Davis show up thanks to Alan. If you want to see the whole collection of pictures you can check out Alan's website for the whole stinking mess of them.

Also thanks to Alan we found out that the Gilman St. show we've had listed isn't taking place at Gilman St, but rather at some place in Oakland.

Alan, SOTM, Sickness and Ribs on July 6th, 2004 by brad
Alan is in California. He usurped Seth on bass during the beginning of the set in Davis. It was a fight until the end of the song, and in the end Seth took back this position as Bass Player.

Craig's sick, been so for three weeks. Seth is sick now. Brad's got 4 dislocated ribs. Jack cut a couple of inches off his hair.

The new Song of the Month is up.

Video & Images on June 26th, 2004 by brad
We still haven't bothered to group together our tour photos, but we instead have two images up in the pictures section from the tour. Whoopeedeedoo! Speaking of the tour, check out the shows page for the tour blow-by-blow wrap up. And see where we're playing next, if that suits your fancy.

More importantly, though, we now have a video for Nel Contra Caca up in the video section. Thanks to Lisa Evans for creating and sending it in.

Oregon on June 22nd, 2004 by brad
Anyone who wanted to see some tour pictures can check out Alan's site where he posted some pictures from the Portland and Eugene shows. We'll have more pictures (although not too many more) up on the pictures section of our site, with witty snide captions, once we get around to it.

It's Out! on June 20th, 2004 by brad
Okay, the CD is finally done. We got all the covers back and it is ready to roll. You can order it from us via postal mail. We also support the whole PayPal thing (send the payment to: craigums@yourmother.com). Alternatively you can order it online through New Disorder as well as through Ebullition. For those of you who bought CDs from us at the shows, the covers will be sent out to you this week. 'If you don't get your covers by the end of june it's probably because we couldn't read your handwriting. Email us.

Sweet-ish @ Myspace on June 7th, 2004 by brad
I added a new song to the myspace.com/lovesongs page from the All Branches, No Trunk CD. Go check it out and download it and go nuts.

Email, Guestbook and Song of the Month on June 6th, 2004 by brad
We were having weird issues with our thelovesongs.com email address, so if you've tried to write us and gotten a message back saying the address doesn't exist, that's why. It is fixed now so write us again!

The Guestbook is back working again for the time being, however it operating really slow and weird, so I imagine it will die again soon. I'll be putting up a new guestbook that should work better in the near future. Deal for now.

The new Song of the Month is up. Sorry that it was a few days late, Sephim! Ha!

All Branches, No Trunk & Back From Tour
on May 30th, 2004 by brad
We're back from our adventure. Many thanks to everyone who came out to the shows, put on the shows, let us stay with you and all the bands we played with. Many thanks to the High Speed Scene for not leaving us behind in the dust clouds of your speedy driving. We had a great time and we're looking forward to going out again.

To everyone who bought the CD, we will be shipping out the covers to you very soon (just as soon as we get them ourselves.) Thanks!

Pictures will be up in the next day or so. The Guestbook is broken at the moment and hopefully that will be fixed even sooner. If you really want to leave us a message in the mean time, you can just email one of us.

All Branches, No Trunk & Touring on May 15th, 2004 by brad
The new Love Songs CD is going to be out by the end of this month. We're actually going to have some copies with us on the tour. Once we get back we'll have an official "release show" which will be interesting, I'm sure.

You can get a look at the words and whatnot here and of course get some samples of the songs here as well.

May Tour on May 10th, 2004 by brad
We're heading out on tour again in a week and a half with LA rockers The High Speed Scene. Please check out the Shows page for all the info. There are some "holes" in the dates, so if you can help out at all, please get in touch. Thanks!

If you are a MySpace.com user, Love Songs has our own little page now. Nothing special on it, but if you're a myspace user you can "add us" as a friend, just to feel super cool.

Song of the Month on May 1st, 2004 by brad
The May 2004 Song of the month is now up, so check that out.

We've sent off the "All Branches, No Trunk" CD to be pressed. 625 No So Fast and New Disorder are putting it out as a joint effort. Hopefully we'll have it back from the pressing plant before our little adventure at the end of the month.

on March 20th, 2004 by brad
If you haven't already, check out the show reviews that Craig wrote recounting our latest little trip up to the Pacific NorthWest.

Also, playing in Livermore again tonight at Unity Skate. Last night was off, so that means tonight we'll be "on" or "horrible." Place your bets and come see the outcome.

Manville & Livermore
on March 15th, 2004 by brad
Thanks to everyone who made our little tour/trip possible. It was a great time! Many thanks to those who came out to the shows, including those that drove so dang far just to see (or mainly smell) our stinky-asses. Pictures and video to follow.

Also, note residents of the Tri-Valley, Love Songs will be making two appearances in Livermore this weekend. Once Friday night at a bar, you know the one. The second at Unity Skate, which is an all ages afternoon to evening show.

Annoying Videos
on March 10th, 2004 by brad
There is some new video footage for you all to check out, so do that. Also, we're about to leave on a little excursion to Reno, Boise, Portland and Santa Rosa - so if you live in that them there parts, be so kind as to come see us.

Gilman Pictures on March 7th, 2004 by brad
Pictures from the show Friday night are now up in the pictures section. Considering it was so packed in there, they came out pretty decent Even managed to get a picture of ME in there! Under the circumstances that is pretty damn impressive.

March SOTM

The March Song of the Month is up, and not a moment too soon. Oh yeah, and I fixed the link so it works now.

Guestbook at 12:20 AM PST - February 24th, 2004 by brad
Yeah, the guestbook wasn't working for a while. It is now. I changed to a new one, cause the other one was some outdated code and blah blah blah... So, go nuts on the new one.

Oh yeah, all old posts are gone - so you'll have to re-introduce yourselves again.

Pictures - SOTM at 11:21 PM PST - February 1st, 2004 by brad
New pictures are up from the Danville show and there's the new Song of the Month to enjoy.
