Fixed the link to the Song of the Month for December 2005.

From Craig:
RIP Jim Maclean. His influence through songs like /Holiday In Romania /and /President of the Anarchy Club/ can easily be seen in Love Songs.  You made some great music, Jim, and you will be missed.

newsNon-Love Songs Shows on November 21st, 2005 by Craigums
Howdy,

This isn't about Love Songs specifically but it is related...two of my 'other' bands will be playing this coming weekend and a couple of you might be interested:

The first is All You Can Eat and we're playing with Propagandhi (see 1st Love Songs CD, track 4) and The Frisk (last show) this Friday, November 25th at 924 Gilman St in Berkeley. 8pm, all-ages, cheap.

The second show is with Colbom which is Mike Hirsch, Aaron Cometbus, Devon and me. We're playing with Milemarker (from Chicago) at 58 Tehama in San Francisco (between 1st & 2nd and Howard & Folsom). November 26th, 9pm, all-ages, cheap.

Thanks!

newsRegarding 21+ Shows on November 10th, 2005 by Craigums
I know we have been playing a lot of age-restricted shows lately and I thank everyone who has pointed this out to us, and apologize to anyone who wants to see us but can't because they aren't old enough. Though we have been in bands in the past who have played exclusively all-ages shows - and we can still fully appreciate that MO - Love Songs likes playing all sorts of venues to all sorts of people because it still doesn't seem like we've found where we fit in yet, and of course, because it's fun to mix things up. No one is asking "Do you want to play an all-ages show OR a 21+ show on this night?" It just so happens we got offered a lot of 21+ shows, much more often than we get asked to play all-ages shows. If there were a choice it would be obvious which we would chose seeing as how our collective maturity level is still somewhere around 5th grade. But having said all that, I want to say that we will actively start looking for more all-ages shows to play because we understand the plight of the bored teen. This band revels in suspended adolescents. If you have an all-ages show you would like us to play please ask us, we'd be stoked.

Thanks to everyone who came out last night to see Seth in a Speedo. He really raised the bar for future performances, I believe. Hopefully we'll have some pictures from it soon.

In other news I've posted the November Song of the Month.

Thanks to Ernst being a computer genius, you can now download the Love Songs albums in a iTunes type of situation - for cheaper than iTunes would charge assuming we were on iTunes, which we're not. Check out the new mp3 store at www.newdisorder.com.

The Song of the Month for October 2005 is now up.

We're back from our three day weekend of shows. Thanks to everyone who came out. If you were unable to make it out to any of those shows, we're playing this Thursday in SF with Boom Boom Kid. You really need to come out and check them out - you don't even have to show up on time to see us, just come see them.

Busy Weekend of Shows on September 26th, 2005 by brad
We've got three shows coming up this weekend. Friday night we're in Santa Cruz, Saturday we play down in Los Angeles, and then drive all the way back up on Sunday to play that night at Gilman St.

We're hoping that some of the people Craig met this past weekend will show up.

Strange Letter on September 10th, 2005 by brad
To the lonely, angry, scene-less boy or girl who sent the following letter:

When I recieved your parcel, so delicately sealed in the Hallmark-sized rose-printed envelope, and blotted with no less than 4 sets of ruby red lipstick smooches (that's 8 lips total!), needless to say my curiosity was 'aroused'.  Postmarked in San Jose - but bearing no return address - the mystery, suspense, and staggering pulse of my oft-neglected heart were enough to make me rip open the envelope right there in the post office.  I was ill-prepared, however, to read your words...

To begin with, I sincerely appologize that you did not receive the 'shit' you ordered from us.  I promise you - we did not receive your order because we never, ever, miss an oppertunity to send 'shit' through the mail.  Jack and I are commonly found flinging our 'shit' at each other when the mood strikes us, and we have recently taken to burying our 'shit' in the sand beneath the new proch our landlord is building, just so we can blame the contractors for 'shitting' under our house.  We call that 'funny shit'.  So to pass up a chance to include a new person into our 'shitty fray' just does not make sense.  I hope you understand.  If you had included a return address we would send you some 'shit' anyway, irregardless of not receiving your initial 'shit purchase order' (or 'SPO').  That's how dedicated we are to sharing 'shit'.  So if you, the nameless, address-less, ruby-lipped boy or girl from the South Bay are reading this, have we got some 'shit' for you.  Please get in touch.

xoxo

Tour Diary on June 22nd, 2005 by brad
You wouldn't believe it if I told you, so instead I'll show you. The Love Songs April / May 2005 Tour Dairy is now done. Yup, published up on the site, the stories, pictures and even video. As/when/if we get any more interesting pictures or remember some events that need to be documented, it will be updated.

Pictures on June 16th, 2005 by brad
Since the pictures from tour will probably never make it up on the site (thanks Craig) I've put up some pictures that Ernst took from the Golden Bull show last weekend. Not as exciting as say photos from Finland or something like that, but photos none-the-less.

MRR on June 14th, 2005 by brad
No, Craig is not done with the tour diary yet, which means that you're going to have to keep waiting to see any pictures from our tour. By the time it gets posted you really won't care anymore. Just pretend we never went out there in the first place.

Anyway, because it is long-since off the news stands, here is the MRR interview with Love Songs (PDF - 1.23mb) for your downloading pleasure.

Mp3s on June 13th, 2005 by brad
This is very cool, New Disorder Records has this mp3 store where you can preview and download mp3s for $0.75 a piece. So if you want some Love Songs stuff, but don't want to buy the whole CD or if you don't want to order the CD, you can actually download the whole album from New Disorder.

to the bitter end vol 2Until the Bitter End Vol II on May 31st, 2005 by brad
There is a new Love Songs track on the To The Bitter End Vol II Compilation CD put out by Vinehell. It is called "I'm Not Afraid of Humping and Picking Berries."

Craig is busy typing up the tour journal, which will include the show reviews, our antics and lots of pictures. So for everyone waiting to see pictures from the tour, you will have to continue to wait.

The June Song of the Month is up as well.

We made it home safe and sound. At some point we will get around to putting up a bunch of pictures from the trip. We have got so many it will take a while to go through them all and figure out which ones are okay to put up. We can't thank everyone enough for their help and support on the trip, it was a lot of fun.

While we were gone we got mentioned in the Contra Costa Times newspaper You have to be a member in order to read the article, so this is the part about us: "LOVE SONGS: For Craig, who plays in some screaming rock band from Pleasanton called Love Songs, I sure hope the band is still around. The world needs so many more bands who name songs "Salty Dwarf." Seriously, these guys are really funny. They're a pretty good band, too. But best of all, their Web site (www.thelovesongs.com) says they've gone to tour Finland. That's the kind of real gumption it takes to be professional rock stars, and I've decided to support you, for whatever that's worth." - Thanks Tony Hicks.

For those of you that don't already know this, there is a Love Songs Myspace site, so you should go add us as your friends on there, if you have a myspace account. If you do not already have a myspace account, we all recommend that you do not sign up for it, because it just sucks your life away and when someone at a party asks, "Are you on Myspace?" and you answer, "Yes", you won't feel as much like a weenie as we (I) do.

In other news, Seth is leaving for China in a few hours, and with any luck he took some time to wash himself and his clothes before getting on the airplane.

Olso, Norwary on May 20th, 2005 by brad
Tomorrow is going to be the last show of the tour. We are playing at Blitz in Olso, Norway. After that we begin the long trip back to Germany in order to fly home. This whole tour has been amazing, and we thank everyone who has helped out or come out to the shows.

Speaking of people coming out to the shows, if you happened to see us on this trip (or any time for that matter) please be sure to drop us a line on the Guestbook. We'd love to hear from you. If you have taken any pictures, we would like to see those as well, so please get in touch with us and send them over.

We are in Finland near the Arctic Circle on May 10th, 2005 by brad
Love Songs has made it to Finland! We have now been in four countries since we left the USA (not including the USA, of course.) We also just got added on to a show in Olso, Norway - so that is great news for us.

Currently we have three dates up in the air. Check out the shows page for more information. If you happen to be living in Norway, West/South Sweden, or Denmark and can help out with the open dates, please get in touch. You can email us or leave a message in the guestbook with your contact info. Thanks!

Greetings from Umeå, Sweden on May 8th, 2005 by brad
We have got a few show changes going on, thankfully all of them being shows added, not taken away. The shows page will be updated soon. Thanks to everyone we have met so far in Sweden (and Germany). We are having the time of our lives.

Last Nite in Town on April 27th, 2005 by brad
While everyone else is out doing last-minute things, I'm sitting at Craig's house with nothing to do. I guess it doesn't pay to get everything done in advance. Anyway, we leave tomorrow for Husum, Germany. Our first show is May 1st and with any luck we will be playing nearly every night until May 24th when we fly back home. If you need to reach us, it is best to either leave a message on the guestbook or send an email (but expect a delayed response either way.)

V/A Comp on March 13th, 2005 by brad
To further confuse and upset 625-Thrash fans, Max decided to add Love Songs onto his latest compilation CD. Our song is called "F.A. F.U?" which is a brand new song not on the All Branches CD.

You can order the comp online through Very Distro or Ebullition.
